PUBLIC HEALTH ENGLAND STATES VAPING IS 95% SAFER THAN SMOKING.
Cancer Research UK-funded scientists have recently conducted a study which has given positive results in the favor of vaping rather than smoking. They have discovered that individuals who swapped regular cigarettes for e-cigarettes for at least six months had significantly lower levels of toxic and cancer-causing substances in their body than those individuals who continued to use conventional cigarettes. The study also showed that a complete swap was necessary, rather than continuing to smoke to a less while using e-cigarettes.
The evidence is showing e-cigarettes can help beat the tobacco epidemic. And when they have the potential to save lives why wait?
The report was compiled by several academics, including Professor Anne McNeil from Kings College London and Professor Peter Hajek from The London School of Medicine, with the evidence consistently finding that e-cigarettes are another tool for stopping smoking and that smokers found vaping as a great tool in their efforts to actually quit smoking.
Long-term smokers who switched to vaping were halfway towards achieving the vascular health of a non-smoker within a month, with the study also discovering a “clear early benefit” in switching from smoking to vaping, in the largest clinical trial to date.
The current best estimate is that e-cigarettes are around 95% less harmful than smoking
Nearly half of the population (44.8%) don't realize e-cigarettes are much less harmful than smoking
So what does this mean for those who are wanting to start vaping as opposed to traditional and sometimes very costly and sometimes completely ineffective?
First of all - there is no evidence so far that e-cigarettes are acting as a gateway to smoking for children or non-smokers.
it is less harmful and cheaper than conventional smoking and can also have a similar feel which can help with the transition. Smoking is bad for your body and your health as the toxins produced by the tobacco causes a variety of smoking related illnesses and diseases.
The difference between smoking and vaping is that smoking delivers nicotine by burning tobacco, which can cause smoking-related illnesses, and vaping can deliver nicotine by heating a liquid in a much less harmful way.
There is also a common misconception that you can overdose on nicotine using e-cigarettes. Although pure nicotine is a toxic compound to be handled with caution, nicotine from tobacco, nicotine replacement therapies (NRT patches, gums, sprays), and e-liquids is consumed by millions of people per day, and any reported poisoning is rare.
Overdosing on nicotine products used as directed is almost impossible, given the ability of the user to titrate dose and the short half-life of nicotine (i.e. nicotine is quickly metabolized and cleared from the body, hence the urge of a smoker to light up a cigarette first thing in the morning).
